Fish Out of Water

2015. Short. Writer/Director/Cinematographer/Editor.

A father takes his son fishing in order to make him a man, using fishing as a rite of passage.

The film symbolically deals with notions of masculinity, both what the gender role of heteronormative masculinity entails, and why violence seems rooted in this binary notion of manhood.

This film was shot on the Blackmagic Cinema Camera 2.5K. It was made as the end of the year project for the Filmmaking II course at Concordia University's Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema.
