Serenity

2013. Short. Writer/Director/Cinematographer.

Serenity is an avant-garde short film, depicting a young girl's daydream of being elsewhere, amongst nature rather than in the confinements of urban life, which is triggered by a mural she sees painted on the side of a building.

Through her daydream, which she slowly comes out of through the course of the film, the young girl reveals a yearning to be connected to nature, and return to 'the roots' of a simpler time before mankind had 'developed' most of the earth.

The sensuality of the nature sequences, the intimacy and macro shots of the young girls body amongst nature, as well as the rich colour palate used emphasizes the beauty of nature, is in sharp contrast to the urban malaise of city life.

Serenity was shot on a Canon Rebel EOS T3i camera.
