ABOUT EMMA CATALFAMO
Emma Catalfamo is an accomplished, creative and award-winning filmmaker with extensive artistic interests. Her short films have won many awards at various festivals, including a 2019 Bronze Remi for Best Student Film ("Kindling" at Worldfest Houston 2019).
Emma is a graduate of Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema (Canada); specifically the prestigious Specialization in Film Studies program. In 2019, Emma received a MA Filmmaking from The London Film School (UK), which allowed her to hone in on the craft of filmmaking. Whilst at LFS, Emma worked on a number of short films as a director and camera operator.
With a deep interest in subjectively framing the world from different angles, naturally she likes to do so utilizing both film and photography.
Particularly, through film and photography she is drawn to telling unique stories and conveying complex imagery and feelings through the creation of intimate visual moments. Her works are palpable slices of life, realistic events that are shown in ways that defy the mundanity of everyday existence.

Her previous cinematic works have dealt with themes such as addiction, mental illness, unexpected pregnancy and toxic masculinity, as well as the generally oppressive nature of idealized gender roles.

This portfolio is a selection of the cinema and photography Emma has done over the past few years.
Most recently, Emma completed her directorial feature film debut, On the Fringe of Wild (2021), in which she started her own production company, Dancing Caribou Productions (DCP Inc.), to facilitate this process. The feature had its World Premiere at OUTShine Miami Film Festival 2021 and its California Premiere at FilmOut San Diego 2021, however both were exhibited virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions.
On the Fringe of Wild (2021) had its American release on October 12th, 2021, to various VOD streaming platforms, as well as through additional local cable, satellite providers and on DVD.
